QUALIFICATIONS

  • National Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS

  • At least 5 years’ experience in Ferro Alloy or heavy industry, backed by 2 years in a middle management position
  • Experience on a Smelter operation, Ball Mills, Pan pelletiser, Pumps, Rotary Dryer, Hydraulics, Fans, Motors, Compressors, Cooling systems, Electrical networks, Project Management, CMMS systems.
  • Excellent managerial skills and to be self-motivated
  • English communication and computer literacy is essential
  • Initiative and result orientation is essential
  • SAP and COUPA knowledge and experience

 JOB OBJECTIVES

The incumbent will be responsible to the Manager (Plant) Premus for:

  • Promoting safety through Glencore’s SAFEWORK program and ensuring all employees and conditions in the plant comply and that stop work is suitably implemented and promoted.
  • Managing and improving the Maintenance function, Projects and Shutdowns i.e. (Ball Mills, HGG, Pan Pelletising Rotary Dryer, Air Pollution Plant, Capex and improvement projects)
  • Process optimization, selection of equipment and continuous improvement to achieve excellent results from multi projects, across different levels and disciplines
  • Performance management of engineering personnel within the Premus Maintenance department
  • Partake in facilitating problem solving activities by initiating, developing and/or implementing alternatives or improvements to the process within the sphere of responsibility in line with Lion Smelter’s Quality Maintenance principles
  • Asset Management
  • Promote health and safety, environment, quality and housekeeping awareness, as well as community awareness, according to Glencore’s First World practices and standards
  • Compliance to all safety standards and procedures
  • Compilation and control of budget
  • Implement Root Cause Failure Analysis findings
  • Continuous improvement on plant equipment as per the required standard
  • Perform general administrative duties and/or any other duties as required by the Manager 
  • Managing employees in the Premus Maintenance department with regards to Human Resources and in line with company policies and procedures
  • Standby duties as per company requirements
