The Opportunity
We are currently seeking an Operations Procurement Supervisor to join our Glencore Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations in Greater Sudbury, Ontario.
The position will be based in Greater Sudbury, Ontario.
This is a full-time, staff position.
Work location is not accessible by public transportation.
Duties and Accountabilities:
Reporting to the Procurement Superintendent, the Operations Procurement Supervisor is responsible for the development and implementation of strategic procurement programs and sourcing of a portfolio of goods and services with the objective of achieving significant value while meeting internal customer requirements. The incumbent supervises the Buyers and is accountable for overseeing the purchasing activities within the Sudbury Operations and will be a resource to provide guidance to other members and direct reports within the supply chain team.
The Operations Procurement Supervisor will make a significant contribution to the various cost programs within Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations sites. The incumbent will assist in sourcing strategies, lead tendering processes and contract negotiations; finalize supply/service contracts for mining/metallurgical equipment, materials, and services across multiple operations, while ensuring adherence to contract terms as well as contract management consistent with compliance audit requirements. The individual will make a significant contribution in managing Sudbury Operations costs for products and services by focusing on optimizing purchases and procurement process improvements.
The incumbent will liaise, communicate, and interact with all departments in the administration of supply and service contracts for Sudbury operations. There will also be a significant amount of engagement with external stakeholders such as suppliers, government, auditors, other Glencore sites, Group procurement teams and the public. Promoting procurement best practices, such as volume leveraging, electronic tendering, negotiations, and strategic supplier relationship management, will also be a key part of the role.
The incumbent will procure required materials, goods, equipment and services consistent with quality, availability, and after purchase service to meet applicable quality, product, safety, health, and environment standards, codes and regulations, including Corporation specifications and standards, at the lowest possible cost. The position has the expectation to provide focus and direction for areas of improvement in meeting purchasing objectives.

Education and Skills
The position requires a University degree and a minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in procurement, development and administration of contracts, coupled with related relevant experience in materials handling, supervision, administration and contract management. A professional designation in purchasing, logistics, or supply chain management (SCM) and experience in managing direct reports in a purchasing environment would be an asset.
Strong leadership skills, business and customer service orientation is essential. Excellent communication and organizational skills are required to work effectively with several customers concurrently. Proven negotiation and influencing skills as well as the ability to identify, recommend and implement cost effective efficiencies to improve overall operational performance.
Knowledge of Sudbury Integrated Nickel Operations working systems, SAP, COUPA and electronic tendering systems, along with technical references/experience in any civil, mechanical, electrical, construction or mining disciplines would also be considered an asset.
