Reclaiming underground mine water in South Africa

posted: 22/03/2023

As a result of mining, underground voids sometimes fill with water. With the right infrastructure to remove and treat the water, the underground mine water can be used as a resource. This is particularly impactful in areas such as South Africa, where water can be scarce.

Supporting our Value of responsibility, we are committed to protecting and conserving this important shared resource. Tweefontein Water Reclamation Plant has been supplying the local townships of Phola and Ogies with clean drinking water since 2018. Learn about the water plant, which supplies clean water to the surrounding communities, in the film below.
