Behind Mxolisi, a new era of mining excellence

My name is Mxolisi Guliwe, and my journey started in KwaThema, in Springs. Growing up in a mining family, I was naturally drawn to the industry. I finished high school and went on to study Mining Engineering at the University of Pretoria.

Both my grandfathers and my father worked in mines, and their stories inspired me. I joined the Glencore Professionals in Training graduate programme, where I gained invaluable experience, from underground mining to surface operations.

Now, as a Production Manager at Glencore’s Goedgevonden Complex, I’ve been empowered to lead a team of my own, focusing on achieving exceptional results safely.

I also proudly mentor local graduates and supervisors, sharing my expertise and making a positive impact on the next generation. I believe good guidance and support can shape sharp minds into future leaders - a passion I share with Glencore.
